5 Ways to Build a Wardrobe on a Budget

1. Shop at thrift stores and second hand boutiques.
70% of my wardrobe comes from thrift stores. I look through magazines for trends and then shop at Goodwill for specific items. I like to go to the Goodwill because they are always having markdowns and usually get in new items from large retailers. I have found a lot of brand new Target items at Goodwill. I am not a fan of the Salvation Army. Recently, I bought a pair of cheetah print pumps from Plato's Closet for $12. I saw some really cute Steve Madden shoes, but they were too small. All in all, you all should check out second hand stores & thrift stores.

2. Shop in your friend & family member closets for special events. Recycle as many items as possible.
I love swopping out skirts & jewelry with my friends before we go out! I am a huge fan of sharing when it comes to special nights. Two closets are always better than one. If you have a friend that's the same size as you, peak into her closet and see what you can find!

5 Things I Learned in College

I just completed my third year of college and it was my toughest year yet. To say the least, I learned work-life balance and how to say no. I am excited and happy to tackle my senior year in the fall, but for now take notes on what I've learned along the way to becoming a college senior at Mizzou!

1. Don't sweat the small stuff.
It is important to take care of who and what are important to you. Life isn't always going to be easy or fun, but never lose sight of the bigger picture. You have 4 to 5 years to enjoy college before you start your full-time work load and climb up the corporate ladder. Relax and enjoy the journey. Stop sweating every little thing that goes wrong. Sometimes when you hear "No," it is because God has something greater for you!

2. Let your hair down and go out with your friends!
Make time for a social life. When college ends you want to look back with excitement and have countless memories with your lifelong friends. You do not want to look back and wish you would have met more people or came out of your shell. This one was tough for me to grasp but I am working on it. I try to get out once or twice a month with my girls. Engaging in friendships and healthy relationships makes college so much more enjoyable!

June Reads: As Seen in Vogue, The Power of Style, True Whit, Lessons from Madame Chic, and More

Recently I took a trip to the Kansas City Public Library to grab a couple of books. I grabbed six books in total. I was a book warm back in high school, but since college came along I've stopped reading so I have decided to push myself to read at least 20 books this summer. I know with a full work load this will be difficult, but I find that it is necessary. Knowledge is power and I want to be the best student, blogger, stylist, cook, friend, etc. that I can be.

Letters from Jas: Thinking Things Through

This week has been quite the week! I've learned and grown so much in just a short period of time. I switched homes, went to a fashion show, finished my junior year of college, went shopping, went to church, and reconnected with my family. Not to mention saying goodbye to my roommates & boyfriend for the summer. This week has been full of energy & as I sit here typing, I can't help but smile. God has been so good to me. What has he done in your life?

Today I went back to my home church, New Life in Christ International Ministries. It felt great to see familiar faces and hear the Word of God. Minister James Neal spoke to the congregation about evangelism, spreading the Gospel of Christ. I started to think of all of the ways I could share the word of God and then I started to recall all of my sins. I mess up time and time again, much like other people. Then it dawned on me that God didn't call perfect people. He called imperfect people to preach to an imperfect world about a perfect God. It's funny how God can make sense out of our noise.

OMG Yesterday Was Crazy: Goodbye Junior Year + Rock the Block

Omg yesterday was crazy! I moved out of my apartment and attended Rock the Block! Talk about starting summer with a BOOM! I had a great day and got to spend it with some super amazing people. I am looking forward to this summer, although my boyfriend & I will be living in two different cities. Yeah, that sucks! I can't wait to grow, expand my blog, and reach a few personal goals! Let's get back to how my Friday went!
