BEAUTY AND BOW TIES

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Beauty and Bow Ties Fashion Show. The venue was packed and super special to me. I started my blogging career at that venue with the KC Fashion Week Bridal Show Spring 2013. Although it's only been a little over a year, it feels like that was so long ago. In just a short period of time, I have grown so much as a blogger and woman. God can truly do the impossible! Now back to the show...

I was given a press pass, so I stood at the end of the runway taking pictures and recording video all night. I was really impressed with some of the boutiques and designers that were showcasing their work.  I was especially impressed with designer Whitney Manney. I was in awe of the colors, prints, and diversity within her line. Last night confirmed that there are so many talented people in Kansas City, of course that's a given but it really sank in last night.

I love seeing my people do positive things and sticking together! Check out photos from the show and my favorite pieces below!

Clark Rooseveltte

Clark Roosevelt is the full of energy & creativity. He is the full-time owner and operator of CLVR Threads. He also works full-time designing logos and other graphics for local businesses. Clark is also a MC and dancer. He is very talented and has a big heart. It is always a pleasure seeing him out at local events!

What was your motivation behind starting CLVR Threads?
My sister and I growing up in a two-parent home and still struggling motivated me to start my brand. I almost never got name brand clothes and never ever got a pair of those Saturday release kicks. We shopped at Wal-Mart and got kicks from the clearance rack. But I would always order from Eastbay to window shop and pay close attention to what was hot and try my best to mimic the latest trends with whatever I had. I failed at that mostly.

During high school I never thought of having my own clothing line or being a designer or anything like that because I was really into sports. But when I graduated from high school, I decided not to head off to college because my pops was sick. I needed to find direction for my life, so I turned to fashion. I did not want to wear what everyone else was wearing so I got the idea to make my own clothes. That is when CLVR Threads started.

Brand Review: House of Rena

House of Rena Infinity Scarves Collection
Have you heard of the House of Rena brand before? If you follow my blog, I'm sure that you have heard me mention pieces from the House of Rena Collection often. Designer Eranne Whiters is a young, gifted college graduate who was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. I did a personal interview on Miss Eranne Whiter here.

House of Rena Pants
So what does House of Rena consists of? House of Rena is an accessory line featuring headbands, scarves, totes, turbans, lapels, and bow ties. Miss Whiters also makes custom pieces as well. She specializes in dresses, pants, and jackets, etc. House of Rena accessories are cute and affordable. Nothing in the accessory collection is over $20. Did I mention that House of Rena accessories are versatile? I style my turban during the day and sometimes use it as a headscarf at night. I can honestly say that I am in love with the House of Rena Collection.

My favorite accessory that House of Rena offered for the summer is my polka dot turban. But for the fall, I am looking forward to rocking my stripe infinity scarf. My scarf is soft and hugs gently around my neck. I can tell that Miss Eranne Whiters took her time creating my scarf. But wait there's more.... did I mention that I bought a House of Rena headband as well? It's floral and there are more online here. I have yet to wear it because I am waiting for the prefect hairstyle. When you have short hair you can't just throw on a headband. Which is another reason why I am thinking about growing my hair back out. (That's a whole other story!)

So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and head on over to www.EffortlessStyleKC.com to learn more about House of Rena and designer Eranne Whiters! It was my pleasure working with Eranne Whiters this summer and can't wait to see more of her work! I know for a fact that she works hard and has what it takes to make it to the top. Be on the lookout for more from House of Rena!

News: House of Rena has a spread in Lo'Cal Fashion Magazine's first issue, which is scheduled to launch in January 2014. You can keep up with House of Rena designer Eranne Whiters via Instagram @Eldubent or on Twitter @Eldubent! Stay fly, fresh, and get some House of Rena accessories in the process. Be blessed!

Check out how I styled my House of Rena turban in a few photos below. I will be posting more looks in my other House of Rena accessories this fall. Bigger and greater things are in store this fall. Be on the lookout for a TheeFashionStories.com and House of Rena collaboration. I support the House of Rena brand 100% because it is authentic and high in quality. I salute you for being a great designer and friend to me Miss Eranne Whiters! I can't wait to see you take the fashion industry by storm!

Much Love,
Jas

Back-to-School Accesory Must Haves

The school year is quickly approaching for most of my readers so I decided to put together a small accessory guide for the year. Below are a few pictures with details of some of the hottest accessories for the fall. A lookbook with outfit details will be coming in the near future as well! Stay tuned for the Thee Fashion Stories Facebook Fan Giveaway as well! Things are only getting bigger and better!

Flashy
1. Chunky Necklace (Jazzibel Jewels)
2. Beaded Bracelets (Custom Jewelry Designs by Jocelyn)
3. Gold Watch (Target)

This accessory combo is perfect for a printed top. The coral beads in the Jazzibel necklace are eye catching! This necklace is definitely a statement piece! This simple gold watch from Target can be dressed up or down. I wear it practically everyday (It only costs me $4!). These awesome custom made bracelets by Jocelyn McField are versatile pieces that can be matched with anything. This "Flashy" look is perfect for days when you want to look "blinged out!"

Everyday
4. Large Pearl Earrings (Thrift Store)
5. Brown Messenger Bag (Marshalls)
6. Long Gold Necklace (Family Member)

Here is a similar bag from Forever21.com!

The everyday look is simply yet chic. Of course, I am obsessed with gold jewelry so if there is an option I say go gold, but this combo will work with silver pieces as well! A simple chain, bracelet and/or watch, and a pair of earrings screams "CLASSIC!" So for Monday through Thursday easy going days or laid back Fridays this look is awesome! Simple accessories allow your outfit to pop, yet the clothes speak for themselves. This brown messenger bag is cute and simple. I like messenger bags because I can reach in my bag on the go instead of having to take off my "backpack" to find a pen or my water bottle. Which type of bag do you prefer while you're on campus?

Feeling Fancy
7. House of Rena Infinity Scarf (House of Rena)
8. Neon Belt (H&M)
9. Crystal Earrings (Yard Sale)

Are you feeling fancy? Well I sure hope so because this look is for my bold fashionistas. This neon House of Rena scarf is not only cute, but it is soft as a baby's bottom. The House of Rena scarf collection comes in various prints and fabrics so I'm sure that there is one that it perfect for YOU! This neon H&M belt is versatile as well. You can match it with other neons or it would look great with black & white prints as well. Adding a pop of color is always "fancy" and even necessary from time to time!

I hope that you all took a little bit away from this post! I love, love, love all of my accessories and hope that you all support these wonderful small businesses that I have listed below!

Weekend News

Hello Lovelies!

Lookbook Sneak Peek
This weekend was absolutely amazing for me! I hung out with my family, made power moves for Thee Fashion Stories and received awesome teaching at church. On Friday night myself along with my cousins, aunts, mom, and other family members gathered at my great aunt's home to play games and eat snacks. It was great to see everyone laugh and play together.

Saturday morning I got an early start with shooting the Back to School Lookbook. It will feature 5 different, fabulous looks and it will drop sometime soon! Geesh summer 2013 has flown right by! I cannot believe that I go back to school in less than a month. God has really favored me this summer, especially with this blog. I could not do any of this without God. The lookbook will be on this blog and YouTube. Thank you Ie'shia McDonald (photographer/videographer) and Eranne Whiters (designer) for your time and support. It was really awesome shooting with you all. If you want to purchase a turban or any type of fashion accessory please check out www.EffortlessStyleKC.com!

T-shirts & Turbans
After the lookbook shoot wrapped up I went birthday shopping for my awesome dad! He turned 41 years old on Sunday July 14, 2013 and my grandfather turned 70 years old on July 13, 2013. It is so amazing having awesome, supportive men in my life! So after I made it home, I changed for the t-shirts and turbans photo shoot with Revamped and House of Rena! The shoot took place on the Country Club Plaza a little before sunset. The shoot featured Revamped t-shirts and TheeFashionStories.com t-shirts along with fabulous House of Rena turbans. After the shoot ended I called it a night. I was working from 7am to 10pm, but it did not feel like work at all. Doing what you love for a living is more like living a dream.

So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work. That is why we are here! No one will bring us back from death to enjoy life after we die. Ecclesiastes 3:22

Finally on Sunday morning, my dad's birthday, I went to my awesome church New Life in Christ International Ministries. Rapper Da' T.R.U.T.H said a very stunning quote and it stated, " When it comes to the Bible you can believe it, reject it, or edit." That really got me thinking about life. I know for a fact that when I sin I try to work my way around it being wrong. But this quote really stuck me in my side and made me want to get it right. So my advice to you is to draw closer to God and love Him, instead of running from him.

Much Love,
Jas
